Are you passionate about mental wellness and looking to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives? A Mental Health Counselor Internship (MHC-I) is the first step towards licensure to become a full time mental health counselor. An MHC-I role is the opportunity to gain hands on, practical experience in a professional, supportive environment where your contributions matter.

• Work directly with licensed mental health professionals
• Develop core skills for your counseling career
• Learn documentation and case management 
• Gain exposure to diverse client populations and mental health conditions
• Complete required hours for your graduate program and licensure 

• Conducting intake assessments through interviews and observations
• Providing one on one and group counseling under supervision
• Assisting clients in overcoming life challenges, emotional distress and behavioral concerns
• Performing crisis interventions
• Encouraging clients to express their emotions and gain personal insight

• Maintaining confidentiality and secure records in compliance with HIPPA standards
• Developing individualized treatment plans based on client needs
• Evaluating client progress and adjusting theraputic approaches
• Participing in program evaluation and outcome tracking

You won’t go it alone

• Weekly one on one supervision with a licensed counselor
• Weekly group supervision for peer collaboration and shared learning
• Guidance in developing your identity and confidence as a mental health professional
• Constructive feedback to grow your clinical skills 

• To apply you MUST be enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s program
• Actively working towards eventual state licensure
• Committed to ethical practice, confidentiality and client-centered care
• Uphold the highest compliance of HIPPA standards
